Boston Harbor View Highrise
Location:
Boston, MA
Set against sweeping views of Boston Harbor, this waterfront residence was reimagined to feel open, light-filled, and effortlessly connected. The design focused on improving the flow and functionality of the home while creating warm, layered interiors that complement its contemporary architecture and remarkable setting.
In the kitchen, opening a wall allowed natural light to travel more freely through the home while creating a stronger connection to the adjoining living and dining spaces. Soft gray cabinetry and richly veined stone, carried dramatically across the waterfall countertop, bring depth and contrast while maintaining the lightness of the overall palette.
Custom millwork adds architectural interest and function throughout. In the living room, built-in cabinetry creates a focal point while providing display and storage. The office was thoughtfully designed to maximize its compact footprint, while new cabinetry at the entry provides much-needed storage and creates a polished transition into the home.
Throughout the residence, clean contemporary forms are balanced by rich textures, subtle color, and moments of pattern. Wallcoverings bring warmth and dimension, while a custom-shaped rug anchors the living room and echoes the curves of the furnishings. Sculptural lighting, artwork, and carefully considered materials add personality without competing with the expansive harbor views.
Designed with entertaining in mind, the living and dining spaces flow naturally toward the balcony, extending the experience outdoors and creating an inviting setting for gathering against the backdrop of the waterfront.
The renovation also transformed some of the home’s more intimate spaces. The powder room and laundry were reworked to improve both function and flow, while the primary bathroom became a serene retreat defined by expressive stone, custom cabinetry, and a generous glass-enclosed shower. The result is a sophisticated yet comfortable waterfront home—thoughtfully tailored to the way the clients live, work, and entertain, while allowing the extraordinary natural light and harbor views to remain at the heart of the design
