This historic Brookline residence underwent a comprehensive interior renovation designed to honor the home's architectural heritage while creating beautiful, functional spaces for modern family living.
Our clients came to Elms Interior Design seeking a fresh approach to their historic home—one that would preserve its original character while introducing a more vibrant, contemporary aesthetic. Throughout the project, we carefully restored and highlighted the home's existing architectural details, including original millwork, fireplaces, moldings, and graciously scaled rooms.
As part of the whole-house renovation, we reimagined the kitchen, living spaces, bedrooms, bathrooms, and entertaining areas, creating a cohesive design that balances timeless architecture with modern comfort. Custom millwork, bespoke cabinetry, luxury finishes, and thoughtfully selected furnishings were layered throughout the home to create interiors that feel both sophisticated and inviting.
Color became a defining element of the design. Rich blues, soft lavenders, warm neutrals, and carefully curated artwork bring personality and energy to every room. Statement lighting, custom furnishings, and collected pieces add depth and character while complementing the home's historic framework.
